WWN Reflection DAY 1: Take ACTION and Transform Your Life!

Today’s FOCUS is on Time Management. What does time mean to you? How do you use it, spend it or waste it? Do you realize that it is one of your most valuable resources? TIME is finite for everyone because everyone has a start and end date, at birth and at death. So how are you CHOOSING to fill in the time in between? You cannot really ‘manage’ time, what you can control and manage is yourself and your choices in your use of time. So, Time Management is really about Self-Management.

Some strategies and Tips for effective Self-Management:

#1. Use 15 minutes each, at the beginning and at the end of each day to reflect on your activities, plan your time and  map out your schedule for the present day and also the next day. If you do NOT plan for your time and keep track of it, you will lose it on ‘non-value’ adding activities. In the words of Tony Robbins, if you have not planned your day, you cannot plan your life;

#2. Have dedicated times for both ‘time-thieves’ and important life activities e.g. you may decide on a particular day, to spend at most 1 hour on social media (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn), 8 hours at work, 8 hours for sleep, 2 hours on family time, 30 minutes on ‘ME-time, 30 minutes on reading a book, 1 hour on TV etc Change up your schedule accordingly to reflect who and what you value in life;

#3. Learn to be on time and leave on time (avoid ‘African Time‘ as much as you can because over the years,  it eats into overall life-productivity). Begin to respect and value your time and people will reflect your behaviour. We teach people how to treat us;

#4. Avoid and limit negative thought patterns and negative people/environments as much as you can, they rob you of positive energy needed to create and grow yourself/business. Spend more time on what/who you love, delegate energy-draining and time-sucking activities to others (there’s always someone out there who loves the tasks that you struggle with), focus your time on what adds the most value and gives you the most sense of fulfilment and joy. Life’s way too short to waste your time;

TIME FLIES#5. Every one has the same amount of time in a day, it is what you choose to do with it that counts and makes the difference. Become more aware of the power of choice and direct your energy and channel your thoughts to your goals. Whatever you focus on, expands!!

Rather than gossiping about someone, reflect on your own life, rather than complaining, think of all the possible solutions to a problem, rather than raging at the world or people, go for a walk, rather than feeling down read a book/watch a movie, rather than eating mindlessly, be aware of when you’re actually hungry and never eat when you’re too emotional (too happy or too sad). Don’t just spend time, use it in a way that aligns with your higher purpose. Lead yourself and you will master your use of time!

#6. Monetize your time. Know what your every hour is worth so that you can gift it and use it accordingly in your personal and professional lives. At the heart of effective use of time are two concepts: 1. Mastering the art and science of PRIORITIZATION and 2. Mastering the dangerous habit of PROCRASTINATION;

#7. Always begin and end each day with gratitude for the gift and blessing of time. Have a sense of respect and honour for the time others share with you.  We are the sum total of our conscious and unconscious thoughts, words and choices, so speak of time exactly how you want it to be!

If you are in the habit of saying: ‘I never have enough time’, ‘I’m stressed for time’, ‘I need more time’, ‘Time is not enough to do x, y, z…perhaps this is the month to change those patterns and embed new programs in your unconscious mind through the volitional use of positive words.

Some good examples: “I have enough time to do x, y,z..”, “Time is a wonderful gift and I am using my time productively and effectively, in the pursuit of my purpose”, “I have the ability to make my time enjoyable and free of stress …” Life is more or less, a self-fulfilling prophesy!

Remember to always take the time to reflect, meditate, pray and celebrate every waking hour of your life. Treasure the wonder, beauty and gift of TIME. The more you treat time with the respect it deserves, the more it serves, honours and respects you right back.

Important Note: Spend time practicing ‘self-love’ and learn to treat yourself and your time with the respect you deserve. Everything is about mindset. Successful people focus on their goals and use up all their resources (time, money, energy, networks), pursuing them. Do you want your life story to be a success? Then master two key things: your SELF( thoughts, words, choices, actions) and your TIME!
