Question of the Day: “What are you COMMITTED and WILLING to do in 30 days to reposition and transform your life?”
At the core of our transformational Training, Leadership and Coaching programs are principles of Self-Love, Self-Accountability and Self-Leadership. You have the gift and ability to co-create your life and design your destiny. Own it!
DAY 2 : WWN Reflection-November 2, 2013
Today’s FOCUS is on KNOWING YOURSELF! How well do you know yourself? Do you love, like, respect and accept the person that you are? Are you too hard, judgemental and unforgiving of yourself and the choices you’ve made in life? Who are you and whose are you? Who are you when no one is watching? Who are you when life’s storms arise? Are you living your own truth? Who/What makes you happy, alive and joyous? What drains you and kills your spirit? Pay attention to who you become under stressful conditions. Often, the true nature of your character often reveals itself in the face of challenging and difficult situations.
Is your outer (public) persona consistent with your internal (private) persona? Research has shown that the extent to which you can achieve your goals is dependent upon how well you know your ‘authentic’ self and how well your values align and are congruent in all areas of your life! Effortless success happens when who you are BEING aligns perfectly with what you are DOING.
The exchange of values between your personal energy and the energy you seek to create in the universe must be true reflections of each other. Knowledge is intellectual, you can learn about and/or know things and still not do them. Wisdom is experiential, you get it from doing and living, so it is to know and then do it! There is no choice. Knowing oneself is the birthplace of wisdom.
Write down 3 things you love about your personality. Also, write down 3 things/traits you could improve upon. Then call 5 people closest to you. (They must be people you trust to tell you the unvarnished truth, not necessarily people you like! Spouses, children, sisters, colleagues, friends etc). Ask them your 3 best traits and the 3 traits they think you need to work on.
Then repeat this exercise by asking two questions: What is your unique talent? What is your unique ability?
The answers you get should tell a consistent story, if not, pay attention to the gaps. This is really to create more awareness about who you think you are compared to who you really are. At our core, we are pure molecules of love. Everything else that seems to distort this reality creates pain in our lives and a profound disconnect from our creator. This dis-connect leads to the fallacy that we are UN-worthy, UN-lovable, UN-fulfilled…and then reveals itself in the choices we make and how we perceive ourselves, the world and others.
The core of who you are is fundamentally the same (even though it may manifest differently in different settings). If your personality feedback is conflicting, perhaps it is time to do some serious reflection and soul-searching on what your real values are, who/what you stand for and what you want to be known for (your legacy to the world). You must have CLARITY about yourself before you can make changes for the better. Until you make peace with yourself, life is a mere mirage.
You cannot lead yourself if you do not know yourself, and it is futile to lead others without leading yourself first! Empowerment starts from self. You must look inwards to impact others outwards. A deep and meaningful awareness of self means you stop chasing the idea of perfection in the future and start embracing who you are now as being enough. It is to know that you are imperfectly perfect. You are an original, you are a unique being, a beam of light and a sacred vessel of love. To know thyself means to be PRESENT in the moment and to bask in the glory and miracle of your ALIVENESS!
To grow and transform your life, it is important and necessary to love, accept, forgive yourself and also, to be gentle and kind to yourself. Everything flows from you. Until you allow yourself to ‘see’ yourself in a brand new light, nothing changes in your world. You are whole and complete, there’s nothing broken in you! DECIDE to permit yourself to simply be. Decide to embrace the totality of who you are. Dare to see yourself in a beautiful, brand new light. Simply BE and B.E.A.M: Be Everything And More!
Have fun with today’s exercise, every one who’s ever participated in it (and was very honest in carrying it out), found it to be eye-opening and enlightening!
