Questions of the Day: “Who are you following? Who do you look up to? Who do you surround yourself with? Who are your mentors and coaches? In the words of Tony Robbins: ‘The quality of your life is directly proportional to the quality of your relationships.” What do you listen to, read and look at? How do you re-charge, re-fuel or re-energize your senses? Are you ready and willing to commit to learn from others and grow? To paraphrase the great John C. Maxwell, change happens in life whether we welcome it or not. Growth, however, is optional. We DECIDE to grow or stay stunted.
At the core of our transformational Training, Leadership and Coaching programs are principles of Self-Love, Self-Accountability and Self-Leadership. You have the gift and ability to co-create your life and design your destiny. Own it!
WWN Reflection DAY 6: Take ACTION and Transform Your Life!
Today’s FOCUS is on the twin concepts of SELF FORGIVENESS and MODELLING BEHAVIOUR.
After you’ve identified the key areas of your life you wish to improve upon, the next important step is to seek out people who are doing excellently in those areas and model their behaviour. It may be in their personal relationships, approach to business/career, professionally, in areas of health and fitness, how they carry themselves, how they interact with others, their ability to solve problems etc.
The important thing is to avoid copying others blindly but to adapt key principles of their positive traits. Always consciously surround yourself with people better than you so that you can grow by learning from them. Surrender to the reality that you need others. Coach people who look up to you and be mentored by those greater and wiser than you.
Life is a continuous chain of value. Always seek to exchange value with others. Do not allow yourself to stagnate. Keep the flames of curiosity burning bright. Be open to other people’s perspective. Be the smallest in the room, so that you grow the most. In the wise words of John C. Maxwell: “If you’re always at the head of the class, then you’re in the wrong class.”
Perception is projection. Begin to look at people in terms of what you seek to learn from them. Take the judgement out and look at others as reflections of you. Get to know yourself deeply, your strengths and weaknesses, so that in all interactions with others, you get new learnings, insights and strategies to move you further in the direction of your dreams. If you’re not learning, you’re not growing, period.
Everything is energy. All interaction leave us either better or worse (not neutral). We are either empowered or drained. Are you taking responsibility for how you exchange energy with others. Are you mindful of your interaction with others? Are you a source of drain or do you uplift? We choose how we are transformed. What you seek from others is what you’ll find. You control the lens through which you look at the world. ‘All things look yellow to the jaundiced eye.” ~Alexander Pope~
Take the time to celebrate your life and embrace all the choices (good or bad) that you’ve ever made. Acknowledge your mistakes but don’t be held captive by them. Mistakes are really feedback and a mechanism for growth. The key is to own them reflect and learn from them.
When you accept and forgive yourself, you break down the barriers that separate you from others. You are able to listen and learn more without being judgemental. Forgiving ourselves allows us to accept others for who they are. Respect everyone’s model of the world. In the words of Maya Angelou: “If we know differently, we’ll do differently.”
Faith and Guilt cannot co-exist side by side. Stop feeling guilty, ashamed, angry or worried over things that happened in the past. You only have NOW! Today’s decision can change the future and that future starts NOW! When you channel everything within you and focus it on the actions taken NOW, you will create a new destiny!
Forgive yourself NOW so that you can give yourself permission to forgive loved ones around you. Until we set ourselves free, we cannot shine our light for others. We may pretend for a while, but we may be unable to sustain the lie. Until we confront and accept our own truth, we are held bondage by our lies. And until we live our truth and bask in our own light, we cannot see or share the light in others.
Everyday can be an awesome day. (And remember, even if the day hasn’t been great so far, you can still re-frame the events). You have the power to interpret the events in your life, use your imagination, be creative…..your were created in the image of unconditional love and you are a co-creator with God. Create joy, beauty, success and love. Greatness resides in YOU! Do the little things in an extra-ordinary way. Be authentic. You are an original, own it!
You can take back your power from your past and create a new future now, by simply channeling your passions/energy/resources to your purpose. You were created for your purpose. Your purpose is everything you are and you do. Regardless of what happens to you, your core is invincible/unshakable/unquenchable.
There is a dimension of you that is one with God. Honour it and never let life steal the joy within you. It is your birth-right from God. You are a precious gift to be shared with the world. Don’t waste the sacredness of life in you by chasing shadows and playing the blame game. No one ever won it. Play to win. Play at 100% or not at all. Play the game of life fully and completely. BE and B.E.A.M: Be Everything And More!
