Obie Agusiegbe is the Chief Executive Officer of EnvironFocus Incorporated.
“EnvironFocus Show and Tell” events in the Toronto area are must attend showcases, linking industry practitioners and members of their communities. They are interesting hubs with an eclectic mix of spoken-word/poetry performances, innovative products & services, engaging speakers with unique perspectives on diverse issues and in the past, some events have had finger-licking, healthy Nigerian foods (courtesy of Suya Paradise Catering & Events)!
She has over 15 years background experience which spans different sectors that include oil and gas, manufacturing government, non- profit, pharmaceutical and consulting in Canada and overseas. She is an Environmental Professional, certified under ECO Canada (CECAB) as an Environmental Manager.
Her competences include Environmental Impact Assessment, Waste Management, Energy Management, Environmental Sustainability, Natural Resource Management, Training and Workshop Facilitation, Health and Safety, Community Outreach and Development, Project and Program Development and Implementation, Research and Business Analysis.
In addition to holding a Masters degree in Clean Technology from the University of Newcastle Upon Tyne, United Kingdom, She has a B.Sc. (Hons) in Chemistry from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria, a Post Graduate Certificate in Environmental Management from the University of Toronto and a Certificate in Adult Education/Training and Development from Seneca College of Applied Arts and Technology, Canada.
Obie is a Sustainability Advocate. She is passionate about getting individuals, organizations and nations to shift their perspectives and practices towards creating a sustainable world.
She has successfully organized and implemented numerous events, programs and projects nationally and internationally, with the goal to transfer knowledge of environmental and social issues and their possible solutions.
She is an avid volunteer and has been on the board of various non-profits organizations that includes Rotary Club of Mississauga- Airport (Executive Secretary). She is currently on the Board of Ontario Sustainable Energy Association (member), President, Sustainable Community Aid Network (SCAN), and Sustainable Waste Recycling Community of Nigeria (SWRC Nigeria) (President).
Obie has a holistic view of her surroundings, understanding that all earth’s elements are all connected and play a role towards stability of the climate. She acknowledges man’s need for survival and believes that there can be a balance (or better still, an integration) between the two.
