DAY 12: Take ACTION and Transform Your Life!

Enjoy the little thingsQuestions of the day: Are you going through the motions in life? Is life a series of dreary, weary, bleak chores and activities? Has the fun been sucked out of your life? Do you spend more time in the ‘complain-blame-pain’ zone and little or no time in the joyous/thankful/loving zone?

Do you see/hear/feel the world around you closing in? Do you find yourself often very negative about people, events and things around you? Are you constantly taking things personal? Do you feel stuck, stressed out and burnt out? You may just be lacking some good old-fashioned F.U.N!

Perhaps, it is time to STOP! Take a pause from the game of life, reflect and reestablish a new attitude and approach to life and begin to live more meaningfully, passionately and purposefully. Of what use is life if you are not living it fully?  You are not here to get by, you were created to soar! In the words of Maya Angelou: ‘Your purpose in life is not to merely survive, rather it is to thrive!

At the core of our transformational Training, Leadership and Coaching programs at Whole Woman Network, are principles of Self-Love, Self-Accountability and Self-Leadership. You have the unique gift and ability to co-create your life and design your destiny. Own it!Rule

DAY 12: WWN Reflection-November 12, 2013

Today’s focus is on FUN! How to bring back love, life and laughter into your life. The keys to having fun in life are Passion, Presence and Purpose.

You have to take time to do what you love. Our passions re-charge us. They help us relax, refresh, rejuvenate our senses and bring clarity to what’s really important in our lives. You must be present and have a deep sense of awareness to really experience the fullness of life. Always take a moment to bask in the glory of being alive. Celebrate the fact that you’re here, still standing!Getting Old

Listen more, feel all your feelings, scream out loud, pause to take deep breaths, listen to music, dance, read a good book, watch a movie, take a walk, have a makeover, do some gardening, go racing, biking, go shopping, engage in fun sporting activities, hang out with friends, sing out loud, spend time with family, meditate or go for a personal/group retreat, compile a bucket list and take action on it, take a trip, enjoy the beauty of silence, explore your world, do something or do nothing at all and simply take a fun rest!

Remember, no matter how much you love a good job, it can never love you back! And, no matter how well you run the rat race, even if you win it, you are still a rat. Sometimes we are so busy chasing a living that we forget to actually live. So have fun and do the things you love because you only get one chance to live the life you want. Reach out and take it!

Be yourself and enjoy being yourself. Fun is the birthplace of creativity, originality and success. It allows you to persevere even when the path seems blocked. “People rarely succeed unless they have fun in what they are doing.” ~Dale Carnegie~

Are you Struggling to discover what you really love doing? Not sure of what your purpose is? Not certain about what is fun anymore? Pay attention to the PATTERNS and PASSIONS and PAINS in your LIFE. What makes you alive, what gives you incredible joy, what makes time disappear, what would you do with love and gratitude even if you were need paid for it? Become more present, for as you allow your life to unfold naturally, so also does your passion and purpose manifest.

Time fliesWe are here to Heal, Create, Share and above all, to LOVE and ENJOY our experiences! Your passion and purpose are woven into your every hour, so become present always, ‘cos every single moment counts. Become more aware of what gives you joy and also what causes you pain.

As you embrace the courage to heal your pain, you naturally begin to create new and amazing experiences ad passions, and then you share this awakened real YOU with your world, in a spirit of unconditional love. Your passion is hidden in your pain and they both combine to mask your purpose.

Enjoy the wonder of life as you focus on that which makes your spirit sing, your heart bleed and your soul stir…it is a fire that can never burn out, it is a hunger that can never be quenched, it is a story that must be told. Your purpose is eternal, it lives on beyond you. You are a sacred vessel of magnificence! Live passionately, powerfully and purposefully. Have fun doing it!

DAY 8: Take ACTION and Transform Your Life!

“You can run to another town, another place, another state. Whatever it is you’re running from, it stays with you until you find how to confront it.” ~Anonymous~

Questions of the day: Are you so focused on your goals and ‘TO DO’ lists that you sometimes forget to celebrate your achievements and ‘ALREADY DONE’ list? Have you taken time today to celebrate YOU?  How others ‘see’ you is a reflection of the light you give out. Are you shinning your best light? Do you feel stuck? A single empowered action step can get you back in ‘flow’.

Sometimes, in order to get ‘unstuck’ or to get new ‘fuel’ to move forward, all we simply have to do is look at areas in the past where we both excelled or failed, those situations (both small and big), when we focused our resources and accomplished wonderful results. You can learn from from ‘failures’ as well as from your successes, and sometimes even more so from the former. If you really think about it, there are no failures in life only feedback.

Can you remember a time in the past when you felt loved, cherished, joyous, unstoppable, powerful and resourceful? Are you struggling to recall such a time? Do you know that you have the ability to go back in time, way before creation, and tap into a time when you were whole, complete, a special time when you were simply one with your creator?

The world and your present circumstance may seek to convince you of the fallacy that you are broken or fractured, however, they lied! You are a beam of light and love, created in the image of God for a unique purpose. You are, were and will always be whole and complete. “Our DIS-Ease in life is a DIS-connect from God, our true source.” ~Marianne Williamson~

WWN Reflection DAY 8: Take ACTION and Transform Your Life!

FearsDescribe and define yourself not in terms of your fears or challenges, rather, always speak of your life in terms of your possibilities, dreams and purpose. Speak of your goals as if they already happened. Speak of your vision as a reality.

Today, let’s take a moment to confront and resolve whatever ‘ghosts’ or issues trouble your spirit. Even if you can’t solve them today, just identify the key areas that need resolutions. Identifying, stating them out loud and writing them down, allows your unconscious mind to keep working on them even when you’re consciously not tackling them. The moment we get specific with our fears, they lose their power and hold over us.

Remember, the answers are  always within. Search inside and God’s spirit will guide and lead you to great things. Anytime you feel overwhelmed, just shift your focus to something else and choose to add value to someone else. We are reflections of one another and operate in the same life-field. A breakthrough for another, is invariably, a breakthrough for us. There are no coincidences in life. We get ‘stuck’ when we stubbornly decide to solve OUR problems NOW!Dreams inside

Stop the ego-tripping. Give up your attachment of being right rather become more focused on doing right; serving others, connecting meaningfully with the world around you, developing and building relationships, being healthier, happier, focus on your personal transformation, progress and growth.

As we take simple steps to grow and transform our lives, we automatically find solutions to seemingly serious challenges/problems in our own lives.

Today, make sure you take some time to rest, relax, rejuvenate, reflect and rejoice. Celebrate where you’ve been and be thankful for where you’re going. You are a beloved child of a loving creator, made to love and be loved, unconditionally. This is your truth, know it and live it.

“To know” is Intellectual and “To Live” is Experiential. To know your truth but not live it leads to Torture/Depression/Pain. To know your truth AND live it leads to a life of Freedom/Joy/Abundance. Here’s a toast to the gift of WISDOM: my wish for you is that you grow to know and live your truth with authenticity, integrity and power.

On a much lighter note, I believe God definitely has an awesome sense of humour. Do you know that four different activities release the same ‘feel-good’ hormones in our bodies: Prayer, Food, Exercise and Sex! My message for you this weekend is to DO all four with wisdom, in the right context, in the right dosage. For example, do not use food to quench a sexual hunger.  You cannot pray yourself into being fit, you actually have to get off the couch and exercise! 🙂 QUALITY counts, not quantity! Have an awesome and abundantly blessed week.

4 Friends reading 4 Books, in 4 weeks, For a Cause….

images “If a book is well written, I always find it too short.” ~Jane Austen~

“I was born with a reading list I will never finish.” ~Maud Casey~

Earlier this month, I got together with 3 great friends of mine in  the heart of Lagos, Nigeria and after many hours of some ‘girl-talk’ about this and that. (‘Girl-talk’ is of course code for a wide range of topics such as the many joys and challenges of relationships, motherhood, the always see-sawing ‘work-life’ balancing act, loving and pesky in-laws, good and not so good bosses, health, weight, stretch marks, must-see movies and TV shows such as Homeland, Scandal, Downton Abbey etc, and of course we talked of ways of getting our sexy back and adding more fire and passion to our marriages….Why see a therapist when you have great, loving, supportive, no B.S friends? Lol).

One of the topics that resonated deeply with us was our love for reading and how we all seemed to be so busy with everyday life and slacked off on indulging our passion for books. So as always, we decided to ‘Take Action! And hold ourselves accountable by promising to read at least one new book every single week. We’ll take it one month at a time and see where it leads…

The Plan

Every week, we’d each take turns to recommend a book to the quartet. Each person would then read the book and share their personal highlights and insights. The notion that ‘perception is projection’ will definitely play out in our reflections. This promises to be so much fun! We do not discriminate when it comes to books, so all genres are welcomed. We hope to kick off with a special focus on books geared towards leadership, personal transformation, growth & development, faith and spirituality. (And of course, we included romantic and erotic titles as well! )

The Consequence

Anyone who fails to read a book each week would have to shell out $500! Yes, we really do mean business. Seventy-five percent (75%) of this money goes to a fund which would be donated to 2 different charities/projects of our choice. While twenty-five percent (25%) would be spent on a girls’ night-out to include-shopping, belly dancing, dinner and a movie (depending on how much is available).

On the positive and flip side, in addition to the consequence outlined above, if we all kept to our reading commitments, we would celebrate our achievement by donating $250 each to a women-themed charity.  In honour of October being  Breast Cancer awareness month, we decided to narrow our choice to foundations or organizations focused on cancer education, research and treatment. Talk about commitment! You know the universal rule: ‘True commitment means using all your resources in one shape or form-Time, Money, Energy, Relationships…

The Outcome

Hopefully, at the end of our interesting reading journey, we’d have had fun, been enriched, inspired, bonded more, learned a little bit more about ourselves and one another and of course, have contributed to a worthwhile cause.

Reading and ReflectingWe’ll be sharing key quotes and nuggets from our reading fest on this blog, however with some of our more interesting and risque titles (Think Beth Kery et al), we may do that sharing in private..lol. For October, here’s our list of 4 books:

1. Paulo Coelho: Manuscript Found in Accra

2. Malcom Gladwell: David and Goliath

3. Brene Brown: The Gifts of Imperfection

4. Bruce and Stan: God is in the small stuff

(There was an extra book thrown in, that’s strictly for married women because you’ll need someone to practice the learnings with! If you’re a WWN member, and you’re interested in the title, please send us an email at info@wholewomannetwork.com.

Are there any books you love and would highly recommend to us because it gave you many A-HA! moments? Gather a few friends and read a book for a cause. We invite you to re-discover the fun, joy and magic of reading. Join the conversation on Facebook: www.facebook.com/wholewomannetwork
