Questions of the day: Do you often tell stories without solutions, about yourself and others? Are you always in the ‘victim’ mode. Or do you choose to tell empowering stories? Your story is your story. However, HOW you tell your story is very important.
Do you define or describe yourself interns of your limitations, hurts, pains, challenges instead of seeing yourself in terms of your triumphs, possibilities and potentials? In other words, are you self-flagellating in the ‘WOE ME’ quadrant of life or celebrating in the ‘WOW ME’ quadrant?
At the core of our transformational Training, Leadership and Coaching programs at Whole Woman Network, are principles of Self-Love, Self-Accountability and Self-Leadership. You have the unique gift and ability to co-create and design your destiny with God. Own it!
WWN Reflection DAY 9: Telling Empowering Stories About Yourself & Others.
This weeks’s focus is on HOW YOU TELL YOUR STORY. And how you tell your story is dependent on how you ‘see’ yourself. Through which lens do you see yourself? Take a moment to ponder if you ‘see’ yourself at the ‘WOE ME’ side of life’s equation or at the ‘WOW ME’ axis.
In the ‘WOW ME’ quadrant, you live your life completely, powerfully, passionately and purposefully. You take responsibility for everything in your life because you accept that unconscious and conscious choices, actions/in-actions, all combine to create everything in your physical reality.
You have the courage to lead yourself. You are open to different options and are willing to resource externally and ask for help. You understand the inter-connectivity and inter-dependence of people, things and events. You have a keen sense of awareness of life as being synchronistic and filled with patterns.
It is a zone of personal awareness and integrity with your emotions. You feel all your emotions and express them in a healthy ways.
You acknowledge that even though there may be things you cannot change, you have the POWER to respond to them however you choose, especially in such as way that you are not dis-empowered. You are constantly learning and growing. You embrace change and know that life doesn’t just happen to you. In other words, you do not simply go with the flow. You choose to co-create your own unique flow!
In the ‘WOW ME’ quadrant, you understand that you are responsibly for your choices and attitude! You learn to accept what you cannot change and adapt to things as they unfold. You understand the power of behavioural flexibility. Your life is not exempt from challenges and storms, the difference is that you learn to elegantly ride the waves of life.
You define ‘problems’ in terms of their inherent opportunities, solutions and learnings. You gravitate towards people from whom you can learn, you’re constantly modelling excellence in others and you refrain from blaming, judging, castigating and condemning. Your attitude always resets or defaults to ‘What is the learning here?’, ‘What has this got to do with me?’, ‘Does this detract or distract from my purpose and path?’ This is clearly for people with a winning attitude.
At the ‘WOW ME’ axis of life, you are always seeking solutions, looking at different approaches/perspectives and learning from both your mistakes and successes. It is focused on finding synergy, empathy and acceptance rather than on being judgmental or egoic.
The ‘WOE ME’ quadrant is the zone of excuses and blames. There is always a convenient reason why everything or everyone else is at fault. This is the ‘victim zone’. You let life happen to you and then you react to events unfolding. There is little or no sense of personal accountability, self-responsibility or self-leadership. There is a lack of awareness that making excuses will NEVER provide solutions rather it creates a loop that keeps you from moving forward. The ‘ego’ drives your actions and decisions. And you feel powerless and stuck! You repress negative emotions and in a bid to block them, your body often becomes stressed.
One of the key concepts for getting out of the ‘WOE ME’ quadrant is the awareness and acceptance that when you blame someone else for the situations in YOUR life, you are basically giving away your power. Taking responsibility gives you control and allows the unconscious to start seeking solutions and create new neurological pathways of options.
Remember, the purpose for ALL experiences (good and bad) is to EMPOWER you to act from a place of awareness, wisdom and power. Revisit pivotal past events in your life and seek the learning in each experience. All the answers are already within you.
Look at those events through your own eyes, then through the other party’s eyes and finally assume an overview, big-picture, ‘eagle’ perspective. Re-tell the same story without the charge of emotions and really dig deep to find the highest intention or purpose. Often, there exists commonalities of intention. Basically, we all tend to have the same needs, they simply manifest or are met in diverse ways. The healthier we satisfy our most unconscious needs and values, the less the chaos and strife around our relationships with others.
Every encounter with people and the world around us, represents an energy exchange process. You choose how that exchange of energy will occur. If you reflect upon them enough, you will discover that challenging personalities and difficult experiences/situations, raise important questions that prompt you to look inwards towards your truth. You alone know your TRUTH. You are a co-creator with God and you have the power, to create the destiny you desire. When you allow yourself to shift your mindset, you are able to discover a whole new world. Take ACTION and dare to see yourself and your world, in a beautiful, brand new light. Only then will you begin to tell empowering stories about yourself and others. Have a wonderful week!
