Day 20: Take ACTION and Transform Your Life!

winnersQuestions of the day: Are you pursuing a life of excellence or settling for a life of mediocrity? Do you want kick ass results in your life? Are you ready to take quantum leaps to get to your goals? Are you willing and committed to deploy your resources in pursuit of your purpose? Are you surrounding yourself with the right role models, mentors and coaches in your bid to soar and be the best version of you possible?

WWN Reflection DAY 20: Take ACTION and Transform Your Life!

Sometimes we forget that we are never alone and we do not have to go the distance all by ourselves. We are blessed with the unique ability of ASKING and also RECEIVING. There are always resources around us that we can tap into. The universe is always in flow, and if we surrender and flow with it, we would be amazed at the synchronicity and abundance it offers. Great leaders know how and when to resource for the ‘fuel’ they need.

In the world of sports, is acknowledged that hardly anyone ever made it to the play-offs or olympics alone, without a support system made of family, friends, mentors, role models and coaches. Our dreams and goals have ripple effect on those around us. As we live our purpose, we inspire and empower others to do the same. It is our responsibility to reach out and ask for help in order to harness our skills, develop our abilities and polish our unique talents. Do you have positive and empowering role models/mentors/coaches in all areas of your life?

Ask for help Imagine for a moment, that your life journey is the major olympics and you only have just one shot at it. Do you have a solid team behind you? Is your supper system firmly in place or are you carrying around the baggage of naysayers, who pull you down and kill your dreams with their thoughts, words, attitude, actions, inactions? Remember, anyone who does not add value or move you in the direction of your purpose serves no purpose in your life.

The paradox is that we are all intrinsicly connected and so, everyone you encounter has a purpose in your life. The key to unlocking their role lies in your hands. The more you become aware of who you are and what your purpose is, the more you become empowered in how you exchange energy and value with everyone around you.

You have the power to co-create what you need/want, the mystery is in surrendering and allowing life to happen, opening up your hearts and minds to your creators design for you, asking the right questions, courageously taking consistent action inspire of your fears, aligning what you are doing with who you are being and asking for help, inspiration and guidance from God and seeing his glory in everything and everyone around you!

Here are 7 reasons why you may consider getting role models/mentors/coaches:

1. Monkey see, monkey do! The more you model excellent behaviour, the more you begin to live a life of excellence! We are innately programmed to model and co-habit with others, the choice then becomes simply modelling the right behaviour, traits and values that you aspire towards.

learn and teach2. All learning, change and behaviour occurs at an unconscious level. There may be a myriad of things holding us from reaching our full potentials; limiting beliefs, glass ceilings/floors, Pandora box of negative emotions, culture, education, environment etc. Most often, they are outside of our conscious awareness and we need someone who really sees and believes our inner magnificence, is professional trained on the right modalities and strategies, and who can commit to our transformation, even when we are yet to commit and believe in ourselves.

3. Most human goals are achievable simply by following certain simple principles. For example, to lose weight and be healthy, all you really need to do are 3 major things: Eat healthy, Exercise regularly and Rest properly.  Another example, to have financial well-ness, you basically need to leave within your means, save and invest well.

Nearly everything else is a variation of these basic tripods. Yet, the irony is that what is simple is never quite easy. Hence the alarming rate of obesity and debt levels worldwide! The obvious common-sense principles are never quite common-sense practice because of the human factor a.k.a ‘Disciplined Habits’. We often need coaches to get us and keep us on track with our goals. They create an accountability system and enable us take action towards our results.

mentoring4. Role models show us that it is possible and they lead by example. They are not perfect, they simply choose to triumph by accepting their imperfections, they share their truth and show us how to live with authenticity and integrity.

Mentors share their years of experience, including their successes and failures. They share principles that we may adopt and adapt. Of what use is re-inventing the wheel, when we can build upon what has been established? Why suffer to build new tracks, when existing pathways are already laid out for us?

Coaches act as tour guides in our journey of life. They ask the questions that hopefully lead you to your answers in finding your unique truth. They enable us explore and expand our model of the world and to communicate and live our truth. They open up our senses and create a sense of awareness in us about the different parts that are in conflict within us, that is, parts that are not congruent. They introduce us to and equip us with the necessary tools in order to align our most unconscious programs and values with who we really are.

confidence5. Sometimes, different events in our life phases can lead to a feeling of being stuck, burnt out, stressed out and/or depressed. Human beings often resist change and fall into the trap of the imaginary ‘comfort zone’. This can be likened to sitting on the fence, going neither here nor there. It is living life in the grey zone, seeming taking action but getting to no-where land!

Events such as child-birth, change of job, location change (immigration), severe financial stress, death, marriage, divorce, job loss, rape, assault, or illness are examples of changes that may disrupt our sense of direction or purpose. Notice that even though some of these changes may be happy events, if the changes that follow are not properly handled or adapted to, they may lead to minor or major negative states or conditions. At these critical periods, the value of a great coach is often priceless.

control6. Every human being is unique, with special strengths, abilities, talents, skills and approach to life. The whole point is not to play the compare and contrast game with others. Coaches are able to elicit what is fundamentally original about you. They help you discover hidden/forgotten strengths. It is a dynamic process and not a prescriptive one based on recommendations. The journey is different for everyone. The answers are already within you.

In essence, coaches shift your focus from a defeatist attitude of looking at the grass over the fence and thinking it greener to looking inwards to your own garden and spending all your resources sowing, weeding, nurturing and harvesting your own fruits. It is the whole journey and not simply the harvesting that creates the transformation.

7. Change is permanent. We are always in flux. We live in a world that is constantly evolving. New technologies, regulations, opportunities are always emerging. The world is now a marketplace filled with information overload. Everything is almost a ‘google-click-away!’ We are always changing, growing and transforming. Like layers of an onion, each day we acquire new knowledge, awareness and insights. As we adapt to the changes within and outside of us, sometimes, things may become overwhelming and processing the conflicting information directed at our senses may lead to feelings of being trapped and stripped of choices.

Great coaches look way beyond the surface structure of your words and behaviours. They are able to draw a distinction between who you are and your behaviour. A coach’s role is to elicit deeper questions to uncover multiple options and choices available to us. They also install new strategies to drive the new behaviours that will lead to better habits in our pursuit for excellence.

FutureThey engage, educate and empower us to achieve the results we seek. Coaches are caring of our dreams and totally uncaring of our excuses! They see our magnificence and have no interest in our game of pretence! So are you willing and ready to transform your life OR are you pretending to want to transform your life? Coaches calibrate on your behaviour. Talk is cheap, ACTION speaks, and eloquently too!

Great coaches re-focus us to be at cause and take ownership of our responses and outcomes, rather than being at effect and stuck in the vicious patterns of excuses, blaming and complaining! A coach opens us up to the inherent creative source within us. Do you want to take a shot at the great olympics called life? Do you want results and not reasons? Are you tired of getting by and you wish to soar? Then, take a chance and bet on your dreams, hire a great coach today and lead yourself to a life of excellence! Once you’ve been gifted with the blessings of having great role models, mentors and coaches, remember the laws of gratitude and reciprocity, pay it forward and shine/share your light and learnings with someone else.

DAY 10: Take ACTION and Transform Your Life!

ApologizingQuestions of the Day: Who are you in your relationships? What do you allow or let go? How authentic are you to your values? How courageous are you in treating yourself with acceptance, love and respect?

How true are you in speaking your own truth? Do you realize that until you love and accept yourself as you are, it is difficult for someone else to love you?

Are you strong enough to teach others how you want to be treated? Or are you afraid to own your own half of the bargain? What does agape love mean to you? What does unconditional love mean to you? What does acceptance and forgiveness mean to you?

Do you know your deal-breakers? Are you consistent in establishing who you really are? It takes courage to stay and fight for your vision of love and it also takes courage to let go and walk away when that vision is no longer worth fighting for.

Only YOU can make a choice that better reflects your innermost values. Begin topaz attention to your most important relationships: with God, your creator and with yourself. Everything else flows from this.

Are you sitting on the toxic fence or have you really DECIDED? When you decide and commit, the universe makes way for you. And if you’ve given everything you’ve got and it still doesn’t work out, perhaps God has a better plan for you and you need to experience the pain in order to let go.

At the core of our transformational Training, Leadership and Coaching programs at Whole Woman Network, are principles of Self-Love, Self-Accountability and Self-Leadership. You have the unique gift and ability to co-create your life and design your destiny with God. Own it!

WWN Reflection DAY 10: Take ACTION and Transform Your Life!

Today’s focus is on RELATIONSHIPS. Whatever you seek in your relationships, have clarity on what you want! Focus on what you want and not on what you don’t want. Then, simply surround yourself with people who depict and live it.

If you seek love, surround yourself with people who are IN love and are faithful, caring, trusting and LOVING to each other. Everything and everyone is energy! Their essence slowly rubs off on you. Monkey see, monkey do, so find the monkeys doing it the right way and model/adapt/learn from them! Stop arguing for the limitations in your relationships and begin to focus on your vision of your relationships (and take aligned action steps to bring it to life). The blame game kills a relationship. Until you take responsibility for co-creating your relationship, you may keep repeating the undesirable outcomes. It takes two to dance relationship ajasco! 🙂

Take the time to deeply analyze and reflect on all the relationships you’ve been surrounded by from childhood till date. Whether you believe it or not, they affected your perspective and choices. You may need to UN-Learn certain traits, behaviours and characteristics. We’re like sponges, we soak up past experiences, consciously or unconsciously, and sometimes live it in our present lives, often, outside of our own awareness.

We are sometimes pre-disposed to good or bad things in our culture, upbringing, education, religion, environment, career…Become more aware of the choices you make and the belief systems you hold. Ask yourself honest questions.

Develop a mindset that reflects who you are and what you value. Begin to replace undesirable behaviours and patterns with healthier strategies. You can create the relationships of your dreams. Not perfect yet perfect for you. You know yourself better than anyone else. Know who and whose you are. Be CONGRUENT in your private and public lives.

You have a choice to either be ‘RIGHT’ or to have a happy and healthy Relationship. You have a choice to either blindly follow the dictates of the world- family, friends, media or you may choose to build and develop your own unique relationship style that works for you! Until we allow ourselves to be fully vulnerable, accepting and forgiving, we cannot experience the fullness of love. Love is not an absence of hurt, disappointment or pain.

Love is simply LOVE, PERIOD! It just is…As the saying goes: Follow your heart and take your head with you! You need both to navigate the waters of life. Past“Happily Ever After” is a facetious term. It does not mean our relationships are free of challenges or stormy waters, it simply means we CHOOSE and FIGHT to be happy regardless of the storms.

It has little or nothing to do with choosing to stay or leave a relationship, rather, it is your ability to live and honour your own truth and values about love and life! The moment you stop being you is the moment you really DIE. Are you being YOU in all your relationships?

Wherever You GoIf you do not look inwards to fix the pains that show up in your current relationship, they may follow you wherever you go. You may physically ‘leave’ a relationship and yet carry with you its poison(s).

The purpose of pain, therefore, is to direct our attention to something that needs to be resolved, a skill that needs to be built up, a talent that is long-buried, a boundary that needs to be set or simply, a reason to reflect on our past and present choices, so that we are empowered to create a more compelling and beautiful future for ourselves.

Intimate relationships (good or ‘bad’), are ultimately, gifts to us because they allow us to really know and understand ourselves. They push our limits and boundaries and compel us to ‘see’ who we really are, who we’re capable of becoming and finally, who we DECIDE to be. Relationship is like a boat that requires the two people in it to row their own share, in oder to arrive safely at shore. Even in stormy waves, as long as each partner carries their own weight, it is easier ton thrive and have joy and fulfilment in the journey.

As long as both partners are sincerely focused on the bigger picture, their action steps will flow seamlessly, from this foundation of trust, communication and commitment. Ultimately, it is freestyle, as what works for A may not work for B. We are human  and also social beings, sometimes different dynamics occur based on peculiar situations, such as health challenges(mental-physical-emotional, spiritual), economic realities, cultural and environmental dictates, upbringing, education, religion  and other meta models.

One of my favourite quotes that I find most succinct and insightful on the nature of partnerships in relationships is by Ify Olejeme Odunlami: “Equality in a relationship lies in the understanding that this is a partnership. Every couple makes their own rules. Kitchen and cooking is not what determines equality. Some men love to cook just like some women do. Some women are breadwinners.

If you want a happy home, broker your terms. In the end, it’s about supporting each other. If you have superior earning power as a woman, go out there and make money for your family, don’t let your hubby slug his way into a heart attack. If your wife is overwhelmed with her work , chip in so that she can have more time to spend with you and the kids. Happy family first.” ~Ify Olejeme Odunlami (as shared on her Facebook page, on 12.08.14; accessed on 12.11.2014)

Another relationship quote that I find inspiring  and tend to repeat quite often, is by Ernie Pavan, co-founder of Human Potential International, HPI:

“Relationships with Spouses (existing and/or ex) and Closest Family Members, Colleagues & Friends, are our biggest opportunities for transformation.

In the world of perception is projection, they become OR represent our deepest, innermost pains, fears, challenges, nightmares (or luckily, our goals and dreams), manifested alive. So become more present. Pay ATTENTION to your life!

We come together, not by accident, but rather through a deliberate divine synchronism, to perhaps celebrate, share, heal, create, connect, build, unlock or become aware of something important in our lifetime.

Fix your pain and life will open up. If you’re willing to find and solve your pain, (and what your pain is doing or not doing for you), you will find your power, passion, purpose, profit and path by simply replacing the role of your pain with a healthier strategy, behaviour and/or choice.

The reason your pain exists is to draw your attention to something important for your growth and to increase your ability to become a beacon for others around you.” ~Ernie Pavan

I hope you all have a great week ahead and I leave you with these words to reflect on and ponder upon for the week: “Dance even when there’s no music; smile even through your tears; take action even when the world holds you down; rejoice even when it all seems bleak. You create your own rhythm, you create your own atmosphere….Create beauty even in your ashes!” ~Excerpt from my upcoming book: Unlocking Your HeArt of Leadership~

Following your way to GREATNESS!

“Surround yourself with the dreamers and the doers, the believers and thinkers, but most of all, surround yourself with those who see the greatness within you, even when you don’t see it yourself.” ~Edmund Lee~  Role models

Here are 7 Quotes and nuggets of wisdom to buttress the need for you to constantly surround yourself with the right people, environment and opportunities. Greatness can be attained by constantly following others who reflect that which you seek to have. Meditate and Reflect on the following and take ACTION towards a Healthier, Sexier, Wealthier YOU!

1.  “Celebrity-worship and hero-worship should not be confused. Yet we confuse them everyday, and by doing so we come dangerously close to depriving ourselves of all real role models. We lose sight of the men and women who do not simply SEEM great because they are famous but are famous because they are great. We come closer and closer to degrading all fame to notoriety. ~ Daniel J. Boorstin~

2. “Who and What you stare at and listen to long enough, you begin to look and think like.” ~An old African proverb~

3. “You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with.” ~Jim Rohn~

4.  “People inspire you or they drain you, pick wisely!” ~Hans F. Hansen~

5. “Create a set of great personal values and surround yourself with the right people that can form your support system. Have an optimistic spirit and develop a strong purpose that you completely believe in and everything you can imagine is possible, for you.” ~Andrew Horton~

6. “If you find yourself at the head of the class, you’re in the wrong class. It’s time to find a new class.” ~John Maxwell~

7. “No matter how skillful you are, if you are with the wrong team your star will not shine. You’ll only keep struggling but results will be far from you. Quit ‘Camp Losing’ for ‘Camp Winning’. Surround yourself with a bunch of winners and see yourself winning big.” ~Unknown~

Have a deep awareness of the environment you’re in, either by choice or by default. Who and What are you surrounding yourself with? Who and What are you constantly watching and listening to, in real life, on the radio, television, internet? In a fight between you and your environment, chances are your environment often wins! So if your physical universe is strife with corruption, evil and indiscipline, counteract it by reading motivational, inspiring and life-transforming books.

The more you complain and talk about what is NOT right, the more it sucks you in. Look for positive lights in the seeming darkness, seek out other like-minded people who want to make a difference, no matter how small. FOCUS on what can be and use up your energy to add value. WE create the society of our dreams. To know better and not do better is an even bigger pain and disservice!

Learn to be a fantastic FOLLOWER. Follow great people, follow happy & joyous people, follow wise people, follow people making a meaningful difference, follow healthy people, follow ethical people who are wealth & value-creators, follow people who’re beautiful inside-out, follow successful experts in the fields you’re interested in, follow focused people, follow all that is great and wonderful. Follow people that will challenge, motivate and inspire you to ACTION! It is a fact that their aura will rub off on you because you BECOME that which you constantly surround yourself with.

Are you far from the vision of your life? Then check the crowd you’re presently in. Adapt a new middle name: ‘FOLLOW-FOLLOW’.  I do not refer to the blind, ego-stroking, sycophantic, worship of supposedly ‘successful’ crooks! I mean a beautiful, humble mentor-mentee relationship based on an exchange of values because we are all INTRINSICALLY VALUABLE!

Your environment either shapes you or you adapt to it. Very few people have succeeded in shaping their environments. So be careful of what and who you are allowing into your space. Learn from mentors and role models around you, adapt their principles, strategies and and apply in your life.Yes, you can CHOOSE to follow your way to GREATNESS.”

In the words of Tony Robbins: “You simply become who you spend time with.”

Add this to your ‘TO DO’ list this week:

1. Identify and write down 3 key areas you wish to grow and develop in (They may be in your professional/personal life);

2. Identify 3 role models/mentors who are at the top of their game in these areas;

3. Follow them! Join their mailing lists, sign up for their webinars, seminars, workshops etc

4. Apply at least one learning from them to your life each week;

5. Keep on practicing what you’ve learned until it becomes a part of your neurology i.e. you cannot help but do it!

Send us an email (wholewomannetworkinc@gmail.com) with weekly updates on your journey to greatness.  As always, WWN will give away a motivational book at the end of May to one one lucky participant. Remember, life is a wonderful game. Play at 100% or NOT at all! Have fun and Good luck!!

Bloggers Note. From a grateful heart, with love:  I am thankful for the following Heroes and SHEroes who have shaped and continue to shape the person I am and becoming. Some have passed away, some I have met in person and others have become close friends and invaluable cyber-mentors: My loving husband and amazing children, my ancestors, my mom, Bridget Ume, My dad, Cyprian Ume(RIP), Kate Okoro, all my ‘sister-friends’ (you all know yourselves…), Marie Forleo, Mary Okobi (RIP), Tony Robbins, Crystal Andrus, Ali Brown, Oby Ezekwesili, Chimamanda Adichie, Kim Redman, Kathy Ireland, Eugenia Abu, Les Brown, Sandi Krakowski, Tony Robbins, Uche Eze, Jerry Roberts, Jordan Adler, Cody Bateman, Hilary Clinton, Maya Angelou, Oprah Winfrey, Iyanla Vanzant, Leke Alder, Funmi Iyanda, Nelson Mandela, Mother Teresa, Marianne Williamson, Pope John Paul II (RIP), T. Harv Eker, Suze Orman, Gail Vaz-Oxlade, Bimbo Odukoya (RIP), Funmi Ransome-Kuti, Margaret Ekpo, Joyce Meyer, Akachi Adimora-Ezeigbo, the coaching and wealth management community and so many more, especially the everyday people I meet daily, who have taken up the courage to live their best lives NOW, with purpose, passion and power! And to people I have never met who have DECIDED to share their hearts, stories and make a difference in the lives of others! We are all connected, and we all share a common humanity.
