Social Enterprise created and registered a new co-operative, "Whole Women Network Worker Co-operative (WWN Co-op), - a new distinct formal entity for our ROSCA-based Financial Literacy and Resilience Program - under a COOPERATIVE BUSINESS MODEL. •8. VOICE & VOTE – In line with the co-operative values and principles of democracy and equal ownership, each member is an owner and has a voice and vote; a right to exercise their votes at the Annual General Meeting (AGM), and in the overall governance and operations.

PREFERENTIAL PURCHASING POLICY – Our members have first right of refusal in all our procurement processes; this means that with comparable business goods or services, WWN will give preference to members in its purchasing decisiona. WWN has also adopted the Preferential Purchasing Policy for Co-operatives, as outlined by the Canadian Worker Co-op Federation (CWCF).

UNIQUE CASHLESS, BARTER SYSTEM – Opportunity to engage in our unique barter system and exchange services with other members of the WWN community in a well-defined system based on fairness and equitable equivalence in the market value of products and services. ACCESS TO EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES – As a worker co-operative, democratically owned and controlled by members, our main purpose is to provide employment to our members and run our business using co-operative principles and values. (According to the Workers Co-operative Act, only members can be hired as workers).

ADVOCACY [No Sister Left Behind] – In the spirit of co-operative principles and values: Solidarity, Social Responsibility, Concern for Community etc, and in line with WWN’s JEDDIA Policy anchored on 10 streams (Justice, Equity, Diversity, Decolonization, Dignity, Inclusion, Accessibility, Belonging, Power as a function of Care, REST), members get the opportunity to support various community initiatives and to nominate organizations or causes to support.


Some examples of previous projects and initiatives that WWN has participated in and supported through proceeds of ROSCAs and a percentage of profits – Tree planting campaigns; Breakfast clubs and Lunch programs; Menstrual Health and Hygiene campaigns, WASH programs, STEAM programs, Campaigns to end SGBV (with a focus on Financial Abuse), Scholarships, Grants and No/Low Interest Loans to equity-denied and underserved Youth and Women in Canada and across the global South.
